Wrapping up GroundWork Dallas & AmeriCorps! Program Ends the 27th!

It’s been a while since I updated…(I know as the year progressed I got worse and worse) Internet connection was not readily available in Dallas and updating from my phone is really a pain…anyway I am sitting back in my room in Denver ready to wrap up the AmeriCorps experience. GroundWork Dallas was an interesting project. The aspirations of this non-profit are awesome and I would love to see if they complete all of their goals. The fact that this group is being funded by primarily private donors to aid in creating massive outdoor bike and hiking trails through out the entire city of Dallas. They did however not give us lots of work. We would work on the trails in the mornings and then teach the ‘green team’ youth how to swim in the afternoons. I would have liked to work more honestly but the project is awesome and the sponsors were just great. It was a great way to end the year. We got to do some really interesting things like go to Shakespeare in the park and we went to a Texas Rangers baseball game. We got to explore Dallas and Fort Worth. It was a really awesome experience.
Back on Campus now. My 10 months are pretty much at an end. We graduate from the AmeriCorps on the 27th and are done after that. It’ll be bittersweet. I’m glad to be ending but i’ll be missing lots of people and awesome experiences I had. My parents are going to be out for the Graduation and we’ll spend a few more days checking out some sites in Colorado and possibly other states. It’ll be a good time. I’ll be home the 31st and I can’t wait to see everyone!!!
Until Then,
